Waterlilies Burning, part 1

2013, Acrylic on Canvas, Mixed Media, 36″x36″

The first in a series of three, this is one of my favorite pieces. I am frequently drawn to vibrant colors and enjoyed working up my alternate take on Monet's "Waterlilies".

Waterlilies Burning, part 2

2013, Acrylic on Canvas, Mixed Media, 20 1/2″ x 10 1/2″

The inspiration for this series was Monet's "Waterlilies". The second in a series of three, I enjoyed making a reductive version of the initial work. I like that I was able to convey the same voice throughout all three pieces while each one still works on its own, independent of the others.

Waterlilies Burning, part 3

2013, Acrylic on Canvas, Mixed Media, 20″x24″

My last of the three in a series inspired by Monet's "Waterlilies", this one took the furthest departure from the initial inspiration, but I feel it still retains the same spirit of the first two.

Meditation

2021, Watercolor on Paper with Pen and Ink, 8 1/8″ x 11 1/8″

My reflection on the process of meditation and the feeling of experiencing your consciousness as all that you are, all that you exist as.

Washed Out

2022, Acrylic on Paper, 8″x10″

A reflection on the experience of my emotions getting the best of me. Sometimes my heart gets overwhelmed, and I feel washed out to sea, adrift in my feelings. Sometimes painting helps rein in those moments.

Reflective Glow

2022, Watercolor on Paper, 8″x10″

An attempt to play with color and blending to capture the feeling of the sun rising over a mountain lake.

Violence

2022, Acrylic on Paper, 8″x10″

Art can be intensely therapeutic. During the pandemic I was able to regularly devote time to creating art and processed a lot of past experiences with my work. I highly recommend art to anyone trying to find a way to healthily express difficult emotions and find healing through creativity.

Yellow, Line and Form

2022, Watercolor and Pen on Paper, 10″x8″

Yellow is a color that I am drawn to, but do not often make a focal point of it in my work. I was really pleased with this experimentation in a warmer color palette.

Rat, Spirit Animal Series

2022, Digital Art, 10″x8″

Reflecting on my perception of myself through animal symbolism, I made a rare attempt at realism in this series of three pieces. In this one I was particularly pleased with the face and mouth and the emotion expressed.

Walrus, Spirit Animal Series

2022, Digital Art, 8"x8"

Digital art is a recent medium I've begun working in. I don't often attempt realism, but in this series of three pieces I reflected on my perception of myself through animal symbolism.
